Performance Tuition for Actors
|Several times a year, Mel runs classes at the Actors Centres in London. These usually include, ‘Acting for Screen’, ‘Performance’ and ‘Voice in Difficult Spaces’. From time to time, Mel runs a workshop on text – Shakespeare, Jacobean, Restoration etc.
Mel also teaches one-to-one in London by arrangement. She works for both theatre and screen.
Many actors are sent to Mel by casting directors or agents to assist them with screen tests and cold readings, for nerves and technical expertise. Some actors simply come to Mel to prepare a role in depth before a project.
Mel runs regular workshops – see NEWS page for details.

Here are some excerpts from emails sent to me by participants of my workshops:
I want to thank you for these illuminating days. It’s not exclusively the good structure and the helpful advice you gave, it’s also the way you used to give them. A very empathic and lively way that came out of an ease of mind. That was great for me. I felt a big ease when I was acting and that affected me. Everything felt more direct and lighter although it was a deeply moving scene. I trusted more!(Isabell Brenner, Cologne)
I want to thank you so much for that illuminating week. I’ve done this job now for 5 years and I studied another four, but that week with all you teached helped me so concretely, so much, also to discover more possiblities I have as the actress I am. So I ordered your book now and I will read every page. I am very glad that I could meet you and work with you.(Daniela Holtz, Cologne)
I’ve just had the chance on a German feature film to put some of your teaching into practice. The crux was when I implemented the three steps: standing or sitting straight// breathing// thinking. If I understood you correctly, the secret is to keep your own energy, your life energy moving and directed outwards. I would dearly like to work with you further so do please keep me informed when you have any more classes in the UK or Europe.(John Keogh, Berlin)
